Yoyogi and Akihabara

I really like the design of those gates. This one leads into the Yoyogi Park.

Today I continued what I missed yesterday. So what was missing?
Fo example Yoyogi Park including the Meiji Shrine, Tokyo Dome City and the world famous university “Tôdai”.

The Yoyogi Park isn’t a park like you use to think. alot of trees and no grass spaces to relax on. It is a park addicted to the main attraction, the Meiji Shrine. It is no place to snooze off in the sun but to show respect to the old emperor.

Entrance to the Shrine.

But before you are allowed to enter the temple you have to pay attention to some things. You are not allowed to enter the temple in a “dirty” state.

So you have to clean your body and mind.

This is the place where your doing this procedure.

And this is how it goes. You take the scoop with your right hand and catch some water. You drip it over your left hand and than you change hands and to the same for your right hand. Than you take the scoop into your right hand again and drip some water into your left hand palm. Clean your mouth with the water but do not drink it and don’t touch the scoop with your mouth!

If you want to pray at the shrine you have to pay attention to the order. First you pay some money. A small donation is ok. You bow twice and clap in you hands than you bow once again. After that you are allowed to say your prayer. But be quit and to it in your mind.

Those wooden objects are called Ema. One writes a prayer on it and hang it around a sacred tree for the prayers to be fulfilled.

Beautiful lamp.

From Yoyogi Park I am going onwards to Tokyo Dome City. It is a big complex but the main thing is an amusement park.

P1020376

Spotted a store just for Jump Magazine Merchandise. Awesome.

You can’t find this if you only travel by train. Walking and getting lost is the best way to explore a city.

After Dome City I wanted to visit Hongô. The district with the worldfamous Tôdai. If you graduate there you can be sure to get your butt kissed from various companies.

P1020380

This is where Naru and Keitaô stood.

On the way to university I found a very interesting sign. It showed me the way to the Japanese Football Museum. I never read about this museum and me being a football fan I had to take a detour and pay a visit. Well, it exists since 2002 maybe thats a reason why it isn’t mentioned in any tourguide?

P1020377

At the end I wanted to go to Akihabara and do some shopping. Akihabara is the paradise for Otaku. Regardless of Anime, Manga, Games or Gadgets. Everybody gets what he needs. And because it is paradise you can see a lot of foreigners as well.

P1020382

Gamers. One of the most famous stores for any Otaku needs together with Animate. I just love these huge commercial pieces.

Gamers don’t have the cool Anime Tencho like Animate, but I think it doesn’t matter where you get your stuff at the end. The only thing that matters is that you get it.

P1020384

Even more big ass commercials.

I didn’t go into a maid café. I didn’t feel like it is a good thing if you can’t really speak japanese. Instead I bought more stuff from my “to-buy list”. And I nearly got everything.

And just like always you can see more pictures if you follow the known Link.
