About me
Who am I?
Born in Cologne, Germany in the year of ‘86 now living in a neighbour city.
Going by the realname Alexander, or short Alex, I am mostly using the nickname Ryudo on the internet. Borrowed this name from Ubisoft’s Grandia 2 which is my favourite video game.
Why this blog?
Basically this is a diary of my life. Of the things I do. The things I buy. The things I find on the internet and I want to share. Or just my thoughts.
What is this blog about?
I am addicted to Japan. It all began in 8th grade when we had a bit of japanese history in history class. I was fascinated by the things I learned and from that day onward I wanted to learn japanese.
As a student I sure had the time but I didn’t have the money to afford a language school or language books. My desire for learning the language was still there after years and now I do have the money to buy the stuff I need to learn japanese. I already tried a language school, but that wasn’t quite interesting. I need a japanese tutor, not a german one.
I also had to wait until the age of 23 before I could visit the land of the rising sun. It was just for 12 days and only in Tokyo but I loved the time there and I will definetely go back there.
And since I like Japan I also came to like japanese pop culture. This includes anime, manga, figures and music.
And that is what this blog is mainly about. My passion for Japan, its language and its pop culture.
Photography
Ever since I bought my Lumix FX01 in december 2006 I started to like taking pictures. And after I returned back home from my trip to Japan I decided to upgrade to a DSLR. I got myself a Nikon D5000 with a 18-105mm VR Lens. That’s my only setup right now but I am happy with it.
What else?
Previously I only used a wordpress hosted weblog at http://ryusworld.wordpress.com/. But I decided to make my own design for my blog and use the wordpress software. I just wanted to test what I can do with Photoshop.
Learned some php und css just for this purpose. Never heard of css before but it seems quite simple and logic. Way better than HTML which I learned 7 years ago at school and never really used.
