tanoshii-depato

Today I brought Buku to Leverkusen. The reason is explained fast. There is a store called tanoshii-depato. Which is to be translated into “funny departmentstore”. The store is specialized in japanese po culture and opened march 2007. i wasn’t in Leverkusen for two years now so I didn’t knew there was such an awesome shop.

I found the adress of the store while randomly browsing the web and immediately decided to pay a visit.

I just know the Comic Store in Bonn and the Pin Up in Cologne who offer a small stock of Otaku stuff. Bonn is to far away in order to stop by more often. Have to drive over an hour by train and the Pin Up in cologne has a strange aura so I don’t want to go there. The stuff is always watching you like you are Jack the Ripper in person if you are no registered customer. And there is no store anymore in Bergisch Gladbach.

We did find the store really easily and entered. The shop owner Mark was really nice and greeted us. We took our time to explore the unexpected small store.

He offers Manga and Anime DVDs, several figures, Gashapons, Artbooks, Trading Card Games, J-Music CDs, Warhammer stuff and drawing stuff. There was a big Hello Kitty area for the girls too.

There wasn’t that much Manga in stock which where worth my moniez because I was looking for special ones I am currently reading. And there were no Manga for Buku as well because we didn’t want to buy one right of the middle or start a new series right now.

But there still are figures.

Small figures of Shiroh and Saber. Just 5 EUR so its ok to buy. Just because Saber is so cute. Shiroh is somewhat an extra.

And Buku found this one which he showed me. A 1/8 Eri Sawachika School Uniform PVC figur.

The price was ok. I think it was 25 EUR or something like this. Can’t remember. I had to buy her in an instant.

And if you read School Rumble you know that Eri is a nice one.

Eri is tsundere. And no one is going to take my stuff without permission if she is on guard duty!

There are some japanese sweets and beverages too. And I do like Pocky even though it cost me an arm and a kidney.

After we payed we still talked for nearly an hour with the shop owner and it was a lot of fun. He turned his hobby into his job and has a lot of fun doing so.

He definitely knows his job, is really nice and helps you out if you want to get a figure from japan. But it is going to be expensive because of customs stuff. Maybe I can get the Suzumiya Haruhi light novels from him.

I think someday I need such a treasure chest as well. Thanks to being an Otaku.
