Japan Day 2008
June 15th, 2008 15:33 in Japan
Yesterday was the sixth Japanday held in Düsseldorf since 2002
“Sixth one?” – you may ask? Well, it is the sixth one because in 2006 it was canceled because of heavy thunderstorms.
I attend the Japanday since 2005 and thats why I had to go there this year too.
Ok, here we goooo.
After I convienced my boss that I need to take a day off from work I could regain a normal schedule for the next day. Normally a day is not enough to switch from night shift to a daylight basis, but who cares?
On Friday I already traveled to Bonn and met up with two friends of mine. I slept over at their house and we used the evening for a gaming session.
At about 23:30 it was time to hit the sack because we wanted to get up at 7:30 to arrive early in Düsseldorf. Up until now they gave away free happis at an really early time and we wanted some too.

I am really glad that Buku mentioned the order of the pillows. This was worth a picture!
At this point I want to apologize for the picture quality. I had forgotten my camera at home and so I was forced to take pictures with my lousy mobilephone camera. This happens if I only give myself 45 minutes to get up, get all my stuff I need for those two days, wash myself and then go out to get my train.
At 10am we arrived in Düsseldorf. And we meet the first people of the animexx community. A german website for Anime, Manga, Games and Cosplay Maniacs. They always seem to wait at the station hall for hours until they go to the event side.

It is incredible. At 10:30am almost no one is there. No one who blocks the path by sitting on the street and no one who threw his or hers litter on the ground.
And you know what? The event side looks almost like a ghost village! Not even a single booth was open for business and no happis!
But at least we saw a van from a delivery service who has the waving cat in its logo.

We had to fetch a few more people from the central station who would keep us company for the day so we had to go back for now.
After a short power up at the local fast food store we went back to the event area at the Rhine river.
A Game Stop store makes us stop, since one of the two new soldiers wanted to take a look.

This is Marvelous_M from below. Hello Marv!
Compared to last year, there were a few new booths. At one you could buy a katana for about 70 EUR only. Quit cheap. And Origami was also shown. At another booth one could admire bonsai trees or antique books.
And the food stalls finally offered takoyaki! Was my first time trying takoyaki and they were delicous!
Alot of people may know those stalls were children can catch those ballons filled with water on a string? Small children could try this game out. All other people could at least buy such a water yoyo. And goldfish catching was also possible.
At it is already a tradition when attending the Japanday so this year we went into one of the local japanese bookstores, too, to buy japanese Manga and other merchandise such as figures and stuff like that.
And this is my loot. This time taken with my digital camera.
Damn it! Bought 4 Trading Figure Boxes. And I got the same figure in each box of the sets I bought.
