Goodbye Tokyo

April 6th,2009

4:30 in the morning. The alarm is ringing. Shut up -.-

Slowly I wake up and I realise its time to say sayounara.

I really woke up in time with only 4 hours of sleeping time. I didn’t thought it would work out. I thought I would wake up at six or even later.

But everything went according to my plan and I could take my time. Packing the rest of my stuff. taking an early shower and check out of the hotel. I really enjoyed staying at Sakura Hotel Hatagaya. Thank you very much. *bow*

Everything went smoothly because there was someone at the hotel lobby at 5:50 and I didn’t have to fill out some forms like I thought I had to.

Then I went to the subway station in Hatagaya for the last time. Bought a ticket to Shinjuku the last time.

It was 6 in the morning on a sunday and lots of japanese on the streets. Many of them because they woke up early and other because they missed the last train and now finally return home after a night full of party.

In Shinjuku I bought my Narita Express Ticket. I sat against the driving direction and so it seemed like my first day was just rewinded. That would be to cool if I could spend another two weeks in Japan. But I knew that isn’t possible.

At Narita Airport the orientation was a piece of cake because of the english signs. I got my boarding card at an automat and went to the Luggage Counter and waited in line.

Didn’t wait for two minutes after a japanese woman took me to the check-in counter for business class because nobody was waiting there. Well, if it’s that easy I won’t complain.

I put my suitcase on the scale and see 21 Kg. 1Kg too heavy. But they didn’t care.

And the 2000 Yen airport fee my guidebook mentioned wasn’t demanded either.

Then there was the security-check and the passport-check. Everything went smoothly too.

Now one only has to wait at the gate until it is time for boarding. First the people who have seats at the back of the aircraft and then the people who sit at the front.

After everyone boarded there was room for 20 more people in the area I sat. But that was good because the seat right next to me was empty.

In the same row there was a japanese girl who slept 10 of the 11.5 hourse. I couldn’t even sleep one hour. I was so envious because I was really tired. And there was only one interesting movie out of the three. “Tintenherz” Sorry I do not know what its called in english. Maybe Inkheart? I dunno.

The rest of the time I heard radio.

I got a window seat again but this time two rows in front of last time. I guess you know what my view must have been like if you read my first post. At 14:15 GMT+1 we arrived in Frankfurt and everything went trouble-free at the customs area. Not that I was afraid but my suitcase was filled with stuff and no empty space. I didn’t want to open up because it would have been a pain to put everything back inside.

My dad picked me up and he took me back home. It was a 1.5 hours drive back to Bergisch Gladbach and still not evening. I went to bed at 21:00 and the next day I had no jetlag at all.

But I do miss Tokyo.

The journey was worth every cent. Tokyo was exactly like I imagined. A mix of traditional and modern. A city, hometown for 12 million people, with a huge rush hour and stress and with relaxing parks and shrines. I know that I will deffinetly come back.

So that is not a farwell but a see you again Tokyo.
