Dokomi 2011

Since the Japan Day was postponed into the October, my friends Buku and Marvelous_M decided to pay a visit to the Dokomi which means Doitsu Komikkumaaketto and is a japanese pop culture event held in Düsseldorf.
The location was a school building and therefore it was really cramped with all those visitors.
Compared to the animagic it was really small and it was really hard to get a clue of the program because I haven’t seen a single poster with the program written on it.
But besides that there were a few booths who offered anything for the otaku. From figures, to buttons, bags and shirts. Manga, magazines, oppai mousepads, frilly stuff for goth lolis.
A lot of workshops like Go, drawing, cosplay photography, a Gaming-Zone and a Karaoke Bar.
As special guests there were SCAGOT, a J-Rock Band made in Germany and YUUKI. She is a Pop/Rock Singer and maybe better know as one of the singers of the duo “Jellybeans”.
Because of my time schedule I wasn’t able to attend her live performance.
Didn’t buy any merchandising either because the prices were way too high. nearly 100EUR for a non out of print which costs 50EUR if I buy from hlj or something is way too expensive. Even if shipping and taxes ordering online will be cheaper.
But one of my comrades bought a figure with a nice engrish extra.
The weather was unsteady and at the beginning we got sun, then rain, then cloudy weather, then heavy rain and then back to sun. So I only photographed a few cosplays. I especially liked this Erza because it was the only Fairy Tail cosplay I have seen there.
Was funny to see a Conan cosplay too. Think this is the first time I have ever seen someone cosplay as Conan.
Reminds me I have to watch episode #618.
There are way too much Naruto cosplays which are getting on my nerves because Naruto isn’t even a good anime. And it is not very creative. Seeing someone cosplay Android #18 is a nice change of pace.
Lot of Pokemon and Panty & Stocking cosplayers as well. But no Scanty or Kneesock cosplay.
And I was very pleased that only a handful people cosplayed as Madoka and her companions. Hope it won’t get worse on the animagic.
Marvelous_M posing with his nyancat shirt. He was often asked to pose for a picture and where he bought his shirt.
Nyancat is known by everyone! He was asked for more pictures than on the animagic last year when he cosplayed Bob from Tekken.
There was a Natsu in the Karaoke Room but they had no Fairy Tail song on their list so I just went with Linkin Park and Back-On :D
Marvelous is really in his element, Love him Posing there even though i am not.. you know :D
There were some decent (right or wrong?) Cosplayers but I had no camera :(
My performance of Linkin Park’s “Don’t Stay” will be up on youtube in the next days ;)

Damn, so I missed another Fairy Tail cosplayer. It was the conventions fault because the school building was way too unclear. I heard, halfway they said to people who wanted to enter the building, that too many people are inside and they can’t let them in. Isn’t this stupid? O.o
I am really looking forward to the animagic which will be way better.
Yes there were indeed some decent cosplayers. But sometimes I saw them out of the window and when I was outside I couldn’t find them -.-
