Baby Action

Better late than never I finally got everything together for this blog post.
It is about the 3rd full studio album of SCANDAL. With the name “Baby Action”

Baby Action was released on 10th of August this year and contains 12 tracks and like always is available in three different versions. A CD only, a CD + DVD version and a CD + Deluxe Magazine version.

Twelve songs mean 52,8 minutes of SCANDAL joy with a lots of good music.

On the DVD version we also get two video clips. The first to be the official video of the SCANDAL Theme Song. After watching this video, every fan will know the origin of SCANDAL!

The girls said once in an interview, that they are really young and that they want to try out different music styles. That’s why SCANDAL is not a full rock band but a poprock band. Their mainforce is still very rockish with stuff like LOVE SURVIVE or Scandal nanka buttobase with really dominant guitar parts and a very good drum performance by RINA. But they also write a few ballads like Haruka and a lot of pop songs like BURN.

But the main difference betweet Baby Action and Temptation Box is, that even those ballads and pop songs all have a rather fast tempo which fits the image of a rock band. And so comes that I even like Haruka which is a very addicting song!

But the biggest sursprise was Appletachi no dengon. The first time they used a keyboard in their music was a big sursprise. We know that RINA can also play the piano since she was 3 or 4 but I don’t think she played drums and keyboard while performing this song. And in Appletachi no dengon we can cleary hear trumpets! This gives again a nice fresh feeling to their music and maybe opens the door to some songs which sounds kinda jazz like. I am a fan of jazz music so I would warmly welcome more trumpet or saxophone parts. And you know what? Tokyo Skyscraper. Again trumpets!

I love you SCANDAL!

But I am curious how they will perform those songs during their Live Tour. Would be awesome to see some trumpet players going on stage. But I guess they will play those from tape.

The next thing which comes to mind is the style of the girls. It is the first time they don’t wear something uniform like. Before they always wore identical clothes with different secondary colors but always with a school uniform look. This time they all wear different outfits. Main color and theme is the same but every girl looks different. MAMI has kneehigh boots, HARUNA wears a leather jacket, TOMOMI a hat and a non-black skirt and RINAs top is sleeveless.

Those clothes were also used in the LOVE SURVIVE PV and fit perfect a rock band image. And since they don’t wear consistent clothing it sure looks like they graduated from the first years and want to grow up.

That said, I can hereby declare Baby Action is my favorite SCANDAL Album!
